Submissions
The Cleveland Review is an online literary journal dedicated to the literature and art of the American Rust Belt. We are looking for fiction, poetry, literary nonfiction, photography, illustration, etc., that captures the essence of the region. We also accept submissions from writers and artists living in the Rust Belt, as well as Rust Belt expats.
There are no minimum or maximum word count restrictions, but we’re generally looking for fiction and literary nonfiction to be between 500-5,000 words.
Simultaneous submissions are permitted. Please let us know if the piece is accepted elsewhere so that we can withdraw your submission and extend our congratulations. Submissions and withdrawals are handled through our submission manager, Submishmash.
When you submit your work you maintain the copyright, but you are authorizing us to share your work in The Cleveland Review, either immediately or at a later date. You are granting us first online serial publication rights. All rights will revert to you upon publication.
To submit, please use our Submishmash submissions manager.
The reading period for Issue 4 will be February 1, 2012 through June 1. We will contact you by July 1, 2012 to let you know if we’d like to publish your work. At that time we will ask you to provide us with a author profile and photograph.
Please review our Editorial Policy and FAQ if you would like more information, or you can send any questions (but please, no submissions or withdrawals) to editor@clevelandreview.org.
